1993–present PictureTel Corporation Andover, MA

Senior Software Engineer

  • Designed and developed a multi-threaded client-server diagnostic environment used to test PictureTel’s latest family of video conferencing systems – through board and system manufacture, software install, and final inspection before customer shipment. Environment includes a developer-friendly interface for diagnostic engineers to develop tests, including debugging platform; a front end server-side user interface, running on an NT workstation, that communicates remotely over TCP/IP with an embedded unit; and a client-side server on top of WinCE (on the embedded unit).
  • Increased PictureTel’s system manufacturing output from 3 units per day to over 60 by adding the capability of testing multiple units at a time.
  • Involved with several product’s full life-cycle, including conception, designing, developing, enhancements, working with customers, and gracefully wrapping up, handing off to sustaining group.
  • Designed and developed numerous full-fledged user interfaces, including diagnostic test environment, remote system administration application for all PictureTel video conferencing systems, and many others.
 

1991–1992 Eastman Kodak Company Rochester, NY

Cooperative Education

  • Designed a Mega-pixel Digital Color Framestore PC Board for a HD-Motion Still Progressive Scan Camera System. Utilized analog and digital circuitry on the board to display real-time video. Added computer interface capabilities.
  • Programmed Altera PLD’s for Framestore’s timing and memory management.
  • Developed C programs to maintain an electronic components database.
 

1990–1991 IBM Corporation (TJ Watson) Westchester, NY

Cooperative Education

  • Coordinated and responsible for various microchip research projects, including the design of an Electromigration test station, growing and analyzing numerous compounds for the Chemical Vapor Deposition process, researching planarization techniques to improve the planarization process of thin films, and characterizing silicon dioxide’s surface chemistry utilizing contact angle techniques (Patent pending).
